I'm no fan of natural disasters, so I'm personally glad I wasn't caught up in this one and still leading a normal life in sunny Singaoire. However, I do feel pity for those who were killed in that tornado.

Come to think of it, haven't the number of natural disasters significantly increased over the years? I suppose it's to do with global warming, the way we are treating the planet hasn't exactly been very nice, after all.

This tornado in particular tore through 3 different states of the USA and caused quite a huge amount of property damage as well as killing six individuals. As usual, the people didn't expect it and now realise how much damage just a simple tornado can cause and how devastating it can be to their lives.

Typing this out in my quiet and comfortable room, I can't help but wonder if Singapore will ever undergo and natural disasters. I know it might never happen since we have been told that Singapore is safe from almost any natural disaster, but I can't help but wonder what we would do in such a scenario, as well as what lives might be lost. Regardless, I hope that the rest of the people did not suffer too much injuries and were still capable of celebrating the new year as well! Happy 2011 and I'll sign off here.

After reading this article, I feel rather disappointed in the PAP government, yet I find it not unusual. We are all human, after all. So why would it be so shocking to hear something like this coming out of Mr Lee Kuan Yew?

In my personal opinion, I feel that the whole article is taken too harshly. Mr Lee Kuan Yew is old and has also recently lost his beloved wife. This could be one of the reasons why he is upset with how Myanmar is coming along as a country being ruled by the military Junta. It is not as though he was saying that he wanted to take over Myannmar or any such thing. I, for one, agree with him that the military Junta is way too harsh in their ruling of Myanmar.

Perhaps the recent spate of sad events could have provoked Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Perhaps he has always been thinking this way in private. Regardless, I think he is entitled to his own opinion on this matter. Some claim this is not true. However, I have read wikileaks before and I don't think that most of the stuff it posts is a lie. There is also a standardized way they classify their documents so most of what is posted should be true.

This does show, though, that wikileaks can be a very powerful weapon against governments. I feel it is good to have wikileaks around though. Keeping governments open will definitely allow us to sense when any suspicious activities are going on in any country. I have heard many countries try to block this site. Well, as they say, no one knows the truth of recorded history. Only the victors write history. Thankfully, Singapore has not blocked this site. As long as we have wikileaks around to disprove any lies created by the media, a whole new side of political issues will be revealed to us in the future!

On reading this article, I immediately agreed that we need more policemen to keep watch in the neighbourhood. Why? Because, as I have mentioned before in previous posts, Singapore is starting to become an unsafe country!

For those who haven't realised yet, recently, yet another man was slashed in Yishun. Now, I am not one to insult the policemen, but sometimes it makes me wonder if they are taking their job seriously enough or not. In my opinion, there SHOULD be more policemen patrolling the HDB flats at any time of the day. They should not take anymore chances because if they do, more people will get injured or possibly killed.

I would recommend having more policemen patrolling the streets at night. Gangsters and the likes are more likely to cause trouble at night, after all. The neighbourhood police posts should also open up later so that they are ready to receive any possible cases that might occur.

I also hope that the government will invest some money to set up CCTVs at spots that are less frequently patrolled. This will allow the police to take note of these areas even without having a patrol there. Furthermore, any crime committed will most likely be easier to solve as the culprit's face should be caught on camera. They will find themselves unable to escape so easily from the hands of the law.

The police should become more serious about their job. They are the only people who can help us in terms of internal security as the army of Singapore can't really help much due to a large number of them being working civilians. Any form of mass mobilisation would cause Singapore's economy to decline. I hope they are able to apprehend the main leaders of the secret society soon by working with the public and the investigators assigned to the case. After all, they have their own families they want to protect too, right?

Well well well this is an interesting article as petty theft has not been seen much around in Singapore for a long time. Mostly because from the time we are young, our parents, teachers and police officers that go to our schools have always stressed how stealing and robbery is a bad thing
So if anyone was going to do the robbery, it should have been a much more elderly man. Instead, we have 12 and 14 year old boys robbing an old man! This means one thing for sure: Singapore needs to step up it's anti-crime campaign.

Because if one case erupts, many more might happen in the future, just like the slashing incident. This case has helped to prove something. And that is that the "safe country" that Singapore has claimed itself to be is now a far cry from it's present self. Overall, I conclude that if Singapore is to continue to claim to be a safe country with one of the lowest crime rates in the world, it had better step up it's anti-crime campaign and force the teachers to take Civics and Moral Education classes more seriously. Otherwise, they can kiss goodbye to their "safe and secure" future.
